There is no more than a month’s time for this year’s largest mobile fair. Here is what we expect to be presented at Mobile World Congress 2019.
The annual, and huge, mobile fair is kicked off soon again. Mobile World Congress is held again in Barcelona, Spain, from 25-28 February.
At the fair you often see new flagships presented, smartwatches, speakers and many other accessories. There will also be a focus on the latest technology, which this year is guaranteed plenty of 5G, artificial intelligence and virtual reality.
All major manufacturers are participating in the MWC, except for Apple, where some of them also hold press events.
Well, the fair will officially start on February 25, but some manufacturers, such as Huawei, will hold a press conference already on February 24.
Here is what we expect to be presented this year.
Samsung at MWC 2019
Samsung has already sent an invitation to their Galaxy S10 event. It will not be presented at MWC, but Samsung will instead host their own event. This takes place in both San Francisco and London on February 20, when the Mobile site of course also participates.
But that does not mean that we do not expect news from Samsung at MWC. Rumors claim that a new smartwatch will be presented with the name: Galaxy Sport.
Samsung has not yet issued an invitation to a press conference at MWC, but it can still show up.
Huawei at MWC 2019
Huawei has had an impressive 2018 and may have managed to surpass Apple itself . Despite this, Huawei is not on the let side. There are rumors of a foldable phone and a wild sequel to P20 Pro.
P20 Pro was first presented in March last year, but it is now rumored that P30 Pro will be presented much earlier than expected. Huawei has already invited to a press event on February 24, but we do not know for sure what is being launched.
The Huawei P30 Pro, according to the rumors, comes with a new 38 megapixel camera and is guaranteed to get plenty of technology from the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, such as the new Kirin 980 chipset.
Some rumors also claim that Huawei’s foldable phone will be presented, but here we are more skeptical.
Sony at MWC 2019
Here is one of the rumors that we believe most about: the launch of the Sony Xperia XZ4 at this year’s MWC. Here Xperia XZ2 was also presented last year.
It’s not much we know about the Xperia XZ4 yet, but rumors say it gets a surprisingly elongated 21: 9 format screen. The screen appears to fill much of the front, with no edge at the bottom and a little at the top, but without the notch.
In addition, it also looks like a new triple camera and Qualcomm’s new top model: Snapdragon 855, which is also ready for 5G.
Sony has invited a press event on February 25th.
LG at MWC 2019
Although there is not much we see for LG’s smartphones, they are certainly not uninteresting. LG has previously used the MWC to showcase their V-series, but rumors claim this year to launch their next flagship, the LG G8, here. If G8 does not come, then V45 ThinQ will come safely.
LG is also interested in smartphones that can be turned into a small tablet. But unlike Samsung and Huawei, they will allegedly not make a so-called foldable phone. Instead, they work on a smartphone where an extra screen can be attached, which turns it into a tablet. How this technique works is unknowingly, but we hope LG is brave and throws it into it.
OnePlus at MWC 2019
OnePlus is rumored to come with a 5G phone at this year’s MWC, which will not bear the name of OnePlus 7. Instead, it would become a brand new series from the manufacturer.
OnePlus 7 will probably get us first in mid-2019, but OnePlus has previously announced that they will launch a 5G phone at the beginning of this year, as some of the very first. What the name is is unaware and information about it is few. But a Snapdragon 855 chipset is to be expected, and at the same time it should become more expensive than previous OnePlus smartphones.
OnePlus has not yet invited a press event.
Nokia at MWC 2019
Nokia has been active last year and is well underway this year. Here we have already reviewed Nokia 5.1 Plus and Nokia 8.1 . But we are waiting for Nokia’s bid for a flagship smartphone. Nokia 9 Pureview has been rumored for a long time, but has been postponed repeatedly.
It was long rumored to come in January, but it has now emerged that it will instead be delayed to MWC. Rumors still say it gets Qualcomm’s former top model, Snapdragon 845, but maybe the delay contributes with a Snapdragon 855 instead?
In addition, it needed a wild penta camera, 5.9 inch screen, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage space and IP68 certification.
